Johnson Encourages LaHood, Salazar to Support St. Croix Bridge Project

Washington, D.C. – Senator Ron Johnson (WI) today met with Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and encouraged them to support construction of a new bridge to replace the outdated St. Croix River Bridge:

“The St. Croix River Crossing Project is critical for western Wisconsin. It’s important both for drivers who use the bridge on a day-to-day basis, and for the regional economy.

“There’s obviously strong bipartisan support for this effort in Congress. I’m pleased to be working with Senators Klobuchar, Franken, and Kohl, and Representatives Bachmann, Petri, Kind, and Duffy. I’m also gratified that so many of my Republican Senate colleagues have listened to my arguments in support of the legislation – and have supported it as well.

“I want to thank Secretaries Salazar and LaHood for coming to Capitol Hill today to meet with a bipartisan delegation that recognizes the importance of this project. We had a productive discussion. I’m looking forward to continuing to work with them.”
