Johnson Urges Prompt Consideration of St. Croix Bridge Legislation
Washington, D.C. – Senator Ron Johnson (WI) today encouraged Majority Leader Harry Reid to schedule a vote on the St. Croix River Crossing Project Authorization Act:
“The St. Croix River Crossing Project is an important one both for drivers who use the bridge regularly, and for economic development in western Wisconsin. The existing crossing is decades old, and is unable to handle the current level of traffic. It needs to be replaced. I am hopeful that the Senate will approve this legislation as soon as possible.
“I’m pleased to be working with Senators Klobuchar, Franken, and Kohl – as well as Representatives Bachmann, Kind, Duffy, and the other regional supporters – on this important, bipartisan initiative. I especially want to thank my Republican colleagues on the Committee, each of whom was willing to discuss the project with me before the Committee vote, and all of whom supported the bill.”
The legislation was approved on a bipartisan vote of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources on November 10th.
