Senator Johnson Releases Statement on Native American Heritage Month

Washington, D.C. – Senator Ron Johnson (WI) released the following statement regarding Native American Heritage Month:

“More than two centuries after its founding, the United States remains an extraordinary and unique success story. One of its signature achievements is the way it has welcomed and embraced immigrants of many diverse cultures. During the month of November, we celebrate the culture and heritage not of an immigrant community, but of our first communities: Native Americans.

“American Indians are an essential part of the American story, and of our history and culture. They have fought in our wars, and contributed to the arts and to science. They are our athletes, our teachers, our business owners, and our national leaders. They deserve our thanks and respect.

“It is fitting that we commemorate American Indian communities during the month of November. In particular, I want to commend Wisconsin’s American Indian nations and their governments."
