UPDATE: DEADLINE EXTENDED TO FRIDAY, MARCH 11

Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson today announced details regarding his office’s internship program:

“I’m pleased that Washington internships give many fine Wisconsin students the opportunity to learn about the legislative process firsthand. I am looking forward to meeting some of the best and brightest young people from our state.”

The internship program is open to Wisconsin college students. Applicants are asked to provide a cover letter, a transcript, three letters of recommendation, a writing sample, and a resume. Applications should be submitted by close of business on Friday, March 4 (extended to March 11). Internships for the spring semester run from May 23 to July 1.

Interns accepted to Senator Johnson’s office will engage in a broad range of activities. In addition to the normal duties of the position, they may attend Senate press briefings and committee hearings, as well as observe activities in the House of Representatives. Furthermore, they will be encouraged to take advantage of educational opportunities – such as tours, scholarly speeches, etc. Applicants will receive a stipend to help defray the costs associated with the program.
