Senator Ron Johnson (WI) made the following statement on Memorial Day:

“It is with deep respect that we pay tribute today to our country’s men and women who have fallen in the line of duty – citizens of this great nation who gave their lives to preserve the liberties upon which America was founded.

“America has always relied on its finest sons and daughters to defend our way of life. Since the birth of our nation, over 1 million men and women have sacrificed their lives so that we could remain free. Each was a loved one cherished by family and friends. Each was a loss to their community.

“The torch of liberty still burns brightly because of these courageous men and women.  May we gratefully remember them and their loved ones today and every day.
