WISN: Lisbon Officials Unveil 9/11 Memorial

LISBON, Wis. -- A treasured piece of steel from one of the twin towers has found a home in the town of Lisbon.

Part of the steel beams that made up the towers has been turned into a memorial to the victims of the terror attacks.

The memorial was dedicated on Sunday, the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks that killed almost 3,000.

City officials said the steel beams were distributed to cities across the country so that people everywhere could honor the victims and become closer to the event.

"To realize that our country, we can be attacked at any time, kind of puts everything in perspective," resident Jason Farvour said.

The whole memorial went up in a matter of months, almost completely a volunteer effort.

U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson spoke at the unveiling.
