Fox 6: Ron Johnson speaks out against Obama’s health care plan

The U.S. Supreme Court is about to take up a constitutional challenge to President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul, and Republicans say the real problem is the cost.

Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson says the new health care law has not lowered health care costs as promised, but it’s causing them to skyrocket.

“President Obama famously said families would see a reduction in their annual health care costs of $2,500. The Kaiser Family Foundation already said health care costs have gone up $2,200 per family. That’s a $4,700 difference. President Obama said he would do that by the end of his first term, so that’s broken promise number two. The other promise I was pointing out – he said if you like your health care, you will be able to keep it. The Congressional Budget Office already estimated that more than a million people will lose coverage, but again, that’s just the tip of the iceberg,” Johnson said.

Monday, March 12th the Obama administration released an ambitious blueprint for states to match up uninsured Americans with coverage that’s right for them, under the health care overhaul law.

Starting in 2013, new health insurance markets called exchanges must be up and running in every state. They will provide people with one-stop shopping for competitively priced coverage.
