Johnson Comments on Debt Ceiling Vote in U.S. Senate

Washington, D.C. – Senator Johnson made the following comments today on the debt ceiling vote in the U.S. Senate.

"Harry Reid's debt ceiling bill offered nothing to solve America's enormous financial challenges.  I voted no on the motion to proceed.  Anytime an American President demands the authority to increase the debt burden on our children and grandchildren, that request should be accompanied by a plan to address the serious problem of unsustainable spending.  President Obama has a historic opportunity to work with people like me that are willing to make the tough choices to put America back on a path to financial solvency.  All Americans will pay a heavy price if President Obama fails to seize this opportunity."
