Washington – Sen. Ron Johnson questioned the director of the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), Doug Elmendorf, on Wednesday, Jan. 28 during a Senate Budget Committee hearing. The senator made the following opening remarks:

“If you’re going to solve a problem, you have to properly define it. When we keep talking about a 10-year budget window problem, I think we dramatically understate the problem, and so what I’ve been doing a lot of work with is your CBO alternate fiscal scenario.”

The alternate fiscal scenario is CBO’s projection of a more realistic path for federal spending.
