Chairman Johnson Moves 11 Bipartisan Bills Out of Committee
WASHINGTON — Chairman Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) and the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC) advanced 11 bills and a nomination on Wednesday.
“What we are seeing in these pieces of legislation is small incremental improvements towards solving individual problems,” Johnson noted in his opening remarks, thanking committee members for their bipartisan efforts.
The bills that were reported favorably to the full Senate were:
- S. 1864, Department of Homeland Security Border Security Metrics Act of 2015
- S. 1846, Critical Infrastructure Protection Act of 2015, as amended by a Johnson Substitute
- S. 1869, Federal Cybersecurity Enhancement Act of 2015, as amended by Sasse Modified Amendment 1, Sasse Modified Amendment 2, Ayotte/McCaskill Modified Amendment 1, Ayotte/McCaskill/Johnson/Carper Modified Amendment 2, Paul Amendment 1, and Paul Modified Amendment 6
- S. 1073, Stop Improper Payments to Deceased People Act, as amended by Johnson/Carper Amendment 1 and Sasse Amendment 1
- S. 1868, Quarterly Financial Reporting Reauthorization Act of 2015, as amended by Sasse Amendment 1
- S. 1808, Northern Border Security Review Act, as amended by a Heitkamp Substitute
- S. 779, Fair Access to Science and Technology Research Act of 2015, as amended by a Johnson/Carper Substitute
- S. 1170, Breast Cancer Research Stamp Reauthorization Act of 2015
- H.R. 1531, Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act
- S. 1826, to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 99 W. 2nd St. in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, as the “Lieutenant Colonel James ‘Maggie’ Megallas Post Office”
- S. 1596, to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 2082 Stringtown Road in Grove City, Ohio, as the “Specialist Joseph W. Riley Post Office Building”
The nomination that was reported favorably to the full Senate was Denise T. Roth to be administrator for the U.S. General Services Administration.
