WASHINGTON — Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, gave the following remarks on the 14th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks:
“Today marks the fourteenth anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attacks. On Sept. 11, 2001, Islamic terrorists killed 87 innocent civilians on board American Airlines Flight 11, 60 on United Airlines Flight 175, 59 on American Airlines Flight 77, and 40 on United Airlines Flight 93. In addition, 125 civilian and military personnel lost their lives during the attack on the Pentagon and more than 2,600 civilians, first responders and law enforcement officers were killed as a result of the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City.
“We must remember the Americans who died 14 years ago. They represent the victims of terrorism. We must also remain vigilant to prevent similar attacks against America. Assuring the safety of all Americans will remain the top priority of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.”
