Chairman Johnson Statement on FBI Decision Regarding Clinton Email Investigation
WASHINGTON — Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, had this to say following the receipt of a letter from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on Sunday indicating they would not recommend charges against Secretary Clinton. The FBI announced in October they were investigating new emails related to Secretary Clinton.
"Secretary Clinton's use of a private email server – including to transmit classified information – was extremely careless and a dereliction of duty,” said Johnson. “There are also several open questions about the FBI's examination of these facts. As chairman, I will continue my oversight to hold Secretary Clinton, Director Comey and the administration accountable and to ensure compliance with our federal records and national security laws."
