WATCH: Johnson Talks About Senate Health Care Bill on MSNBC’s ‘Morning Joe’
WASHINGTON – During an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Thursday, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) talked about the Senate health care bill and the importance of fixing our health care system, damaged by Obamacare, by removing decision-making power from Washington, D.C., and allowing state governments to better serve the unique health care needs of their citizens.
Excerpts from the interview are below, and the full segment can be found here.
“From my standpoint, there's an awful lot of governors that have come out in favor, including (Wisconsin Gov. Scott) Walker, because this will be hugely beneficial for Wisconsin. Under Obamacare, three states, California, New York and Massachusetts, about 20% of the population, get 36% of Obamacare funding. It's simply unfair.”
“I truly believe that governors and state legislators will do a better job at managing health care in their states.”
“Premiums have doubled nationally, they’ve doubled here in Wisconsin, sometimes tripled. Obamacare is simply not working.”
“Obamacare is a failed model, a faulty architecture. This will put us on a path to start fixing it.”
“There are no guarantees under Obamacare. I just pointed out individuals that are busting it, that are working hard, who don't get subsidies — they're without coverage. Some of them have pre-existing conditions. So there are no absolute guarantees other than if we don't do anything … premiums will remain doubled, they’ll continue to skyrocket unless we inject tens of billions of dollars into a failed system. That's a guarantee. We're trying to make sure that doesn't happen.”
