WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) discussed Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court on MSNBC’s “Live with Alex Witt” Saturday afternoon ahead of the final Senate confirmation vote.

Kavanaugh “has 12 years of experience on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. Again, the reviews of him being a judge and being impartial and showing the proper temperament on that court are overwhelming..”

“You can believe that (Christine Blasey Ford) believes what she is saying, but you can also take a look at the evidence, and you can rely on the bedrock principle of America's legal system, and that's the presumption of innocence. There was no corroborating evidence whatsoever.”

“What really carries over … is really Doctor Ford’s testimony, when she said, except for the incident itself, these have been the worst two weeks of her life. Now, those worst two weeks of her life weren't brought to her by the Republicans. We treated her with a great deal of respect and sensitivity. Those worst two weeks of life were brought to her by Democratic operatives, her attorneys who didn't tell her apparently that she could have done this privately in California. Somebody leaked her name. Somebody didn’t keep her wishes to remain anonymous, did not honor that guarantee. Not Republicans. We treated her with a great deal of respect. We genuinely are concerned about her and anybody who has been sexually assaulted. That entire debacle -- they wanted a spectacle, they wanted a show trial, her handlers, and they got it.”
