Wisconsin's Best Interests

Throughout the month of March, Sen. Johnson has been working tirelessly on behalf of his constituents.

Here are a few highlights from the past month.

Maggie's 101st Birthday

Sen. Johnson was honored to join World War II hero James "Maggie" Maggellas for his 101st birthday in Fond du Lac on March 10th. After the celebration, Maggie sat down with Sen. Johnson to impart some wisdom and life lessons for future generations. Listen to the podcast "Lessons from the World War II Hero" here .

March 9 Events

Sen. Johnson enjoyed time in southeastern Wisconsin talking to a number of constituents. At West Bend East and West High Schools, Sen. Johnson talked with students taking government classes. He also held listening sessions with a group of Hispanic pastors in Milwaukee and the Chamber of Commerce in Union Grove. Sen. Johnson visited Signicast in Hartford to discuss the steel and aluminum tariffs. Signicast provides nearly 900 jobs to people in the southeast Wisconsin and ships products worldwide.

On the Hill

The House of Representatives recently passed a "right to try" bill similar to Sen. Johnson's bill, but unfortunately, it failed to pass the Senate. Sen. Johnson is now calling on the House to take up and pass his bill, S. 204 which already passed the Senate and send it straight to the president's desk. President Trump has also called on Congress to take action.

As Chairman of the Senate's Homeland Security and Government Affairs committee, Sen. Johnson led the effort to reauthorize the Department of Homeland Security. The reautorization bill improves national security, provides for better accountability and strengthens cyber security.

Coming Up

The Joseph Project will be holding classes in Milwaukee and Madison April 9-12. The Joseph Project is also looking to expand to the Eau Claire area. For more information on the expansion, check out this WEAU-13 story.
