Johnson Comments on Justice Kennedy’s Retirement
WASHINGTON — During an interview on Bloomberg TV, U.S. Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) addressed Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy’s retirement. A transcript and video of Sen. Johnson’s comments are below.
“I want to thank Justice Kennedy for his service. I certainly wish him and his family well in his retirement. I also agree with Leader McConnell – we will expeditiously move toward the nomination process and I look forward to nominating and then confirming a judge to the Supreme Court. And by judge we are talking about an individual that will actually apply the law, not alter it. That’s the classic definition of a judge and that’s exactly what President Trump has been nominating, those types of individuals, and that’s exactly the types of judges we have been confirming in the Senate.”
