Johnson Discusses Democrats’ $1.9 Trillion Bill, Border Security on ‘The Faulkner Focus’
WASHINGTON — In an appearance on Fox News’ “The Faulkner Focus,” U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) talked about the Democrats’ $1.9 trillion government expansion bill and the Biden administration’s open border policies allowing Covid-positive migrants into the United States.
Excerpts from the interview are below and video of the interview can be found here.
On Democrats’ $1.9 trillion bill:
“Had I not forced that 11-hour reading — I sat on the floor of the Senate; I listened to the entire 11 hours — what we would have been doing is we would have gone to vote-a-rama last night, no time to read the bill, no time to really prepare decent amendments.”
“This is not a Covid relief bill. It’s amazing how much spending is going to occur in the out years: 2022, ‘23, ‘28. This is just Democrats providing appropriations for their wish list.”
On border security:
“The Biden administration is committed to open borders and catch-and-release. It was DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson under the Obama administration who said a really bad day for him was over 1,000 illegal immigrants being apprehended at the border. We're over 4,000 a day. That’s a caravan a day. We are not properly testing people for Covid. We are just releasing them, it’s catch-and-release. If it was a humanitarian crisis in 2014 according to President Obama, what would you call this? This is a disaster created by the Biden administration's open border policy and the fact they stopped building the wall, which was working.”
“This is a huge national security issue that the Biden administration is saying is only a challenge. No. This is a crisis, this is a disaster and it’s a disaster of their own making.”
