Johnson Discusses Rising China Threat, Biden Family Entanglements on 'Fox News'
WASHINGTON – In an appearance on “America Reports,” U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) commented on the rising threat China poses to the United States and the need for President Biden and his administration to respond with strength and resolve to its malign activities.
Excerpts from the interview are below and a video of the interview can be found here.
“China is a rising threat. It’s malign activities have been pretty apparent, and that's one thing that President Trump certainly was 100% correct at. They are our biggest threat, and they’re the world’s second-largest economy. My concern, and it has been my concern since we’ve been doing our investigation in terms of the foreign entanglements of Hunter Biden and Biden Inc. with China, is we haven't unraveled all those. We don't have a clue what China might know about Joe Biden's activity, and Hunter Biden's activity. They may be using it as blackmail and how that might impact our foreign policy and our relationship with China.”
“We need to show strength and resolve. We should be talking about making sure that we maintain a strong military. I do believe you achieve peace through strength. I think that’s exactly what President Trump achieved over his last four years, he kept our adversaries off guard, they weren’t quite sure what he might do and I think that actually worked to the United States’ benefit. Right now I’m highly concerned that President Biden is being tested, and I certainly hope that he is up to the challenge, but I have my doubts.”
“A couple decades ago when we allowed China into the World Trade Organization, we all hoped for the best and were counting on the fact that as China became more prosperous, its people would want more consumer goods and they would naturally tend toward more freedom and more democracy, but that is not what has happened. It’s a totalitarian regime, it has all kinds of human rights abuses against the Uighurs and other populations. It is a malign actor, and we need to treat it that way.”
