ICYMI: Johnson Discusses Disappointing Jobs Report and Government Overreach on ‘Fox News Radio’

WASHINGTON – In a Friday radio interview with Jimmy Failla on “Fox Across America,” U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) commented on April’s disappointing jobs report due to the Biden administration’s massive spending packages and proposed tax increases.

A clip of the interview can be found here, and excerpts are below.

“The biggest problem we have now in our economy is that the federal government has subsidized sitting on your couch. We are paying people not to work, so employers cannot hire the people they need to run their manufacturing plants or be in the service industry. That is the biggest impediment now to an economy that just wants to roar.  It already is taking off but this is what will hold us back, that we subsidize people not going to work.”

"I thought it was just chilling, when President Biden finally addressed the American public and he just pleaded with Americans, 'have faith in government'. I'm sorry, I just don't. I have faith in the American people. I have faith in a system that allows people to dream and aspire and build and create and innovate. That's what made this country great, individuals with that kind of initiative. Not government, and certainly not deficit spending, enormous levels of debt, and mortgaging our kids future."
