Sen. Johnson: Increasing Dependency on Government Doesn't Work, Incredibly Dangerous for America
Joins ‘The Ingraham Angle,’ ‘Mornings with Maria’ and ‘The National Desk’ to discuss Biden’s radical agenda
WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) joined Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle,” Fox Business’ “Mornings with Maria,” and Sinclair’s “The National Desk” to discuss the importance of the United States standing with Israel, the Biden administrations’ reckless decision to side with Russia over the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, and the humanitarian and security crisis the administration has created at the southern border.
On Israel’s right to defend itself:
“I will never understand the mind of a liberal-progressive Marxist, and what we are witnessing right now is the consequences of weakness. I agree with President Reagan when he said you achieve peace through strength, and unfortunately our adversaries understand the Biden administration is just really pretty much the continuation of the Obama administration. Pretty much the same cast of characters, and they exude weakness. I continue to be reminded of what President Obama’s Secretary of Defense said about President Biden — that he has been wrong on every major foreign policy and national security issue over last four decades, and I think that was actually predicted as well.” (Sen. Johnson, ‘Mornings with Maria,’ 5/20/21)
“Allow Israel to fully defend itself and call on Hamas to stop the indiscriminate missiling of civilians; there's no moral equivalency here.” (Sen. Johnson, ‘The National Desk,’ 5/20/21)
On Nord Stream 2 pipeline:
“They’re basically letting it go forward by not sanctioning the primary business entity that is having it constructed. It makes no sense but it's just part and parcel of the weakness that I fear the Biden administration is going to continue to exhibit when it comes to foreign policy.” (Sen. Johnson, ‘The National Desk,’ 5/20/21)
On Biden’s radial agenda:
“We know the most radical elements, whether it’s on domestic policy or foreign policy, are firmly in control of the Biden administration, and it ought to concern every American. We are certainly witnessing cancel culture, but as you’ve been talking about earlier in your show, there are very strong signs for inflation. I’m afraid there is a witch’s brew of ingredients percolating here that could lead to stagflation as well.” (Sen. Johnson, ‘Mornings with Maria,’ 5/20/21)
On Democrats’ reckless spending:
“Democrats want to spend money and they will, so I expect the budget to be heavy toward domestic spending, welfare spending, addicting more Americans and making more Americans dependent on government, which is a long-term problem. We’re seeing it right now, the plus-up in unemployment benefits. As Lawrence Summers, an economist and economic advisor for both Obama and Clinton said, basically when you extend unemployment benefits, you extend unemployment. That’s why employers can't hire people to produce the products the American economy is demanding. So many businesses are on allocation right now, so again, the program of the Democrats and the Biden administration is massive deficit spending, massively increasing our debt, massively increasing dependency on government — Maria, that just doesn't work. That’s incredibly dangerous for America. It weakens us.” (Sen. Johnson, ‘Mornings with Maria,’ 5/20/21)
On Biden border crisis:
“We’re apprehending about 6,000 people per day — 6,000 people a day. We were doing 2,000 a day during the humanitarian crisis in 2014, President Obama declared that a humanitarian crisis. We’re three times that level right now. So the fiscal cost will be in the billions, but the human toll will even be higher. The Biden administration’s Vice President Harris was on my committee, they know full well the human depredations, they know that children are being sold, that they’re being recycled. They understand that their policies are facilitating the multibillion dollar business model of the most evil people on planet.” (Sen. Johnson, ‘Mornings with Maria,’ 5/20/21)
On January 6 commission:
“I condemned the breach, I condemned the violence but to say there were thousands of armed insurrectionists, breaching the Capitol, intent on overthrowing the government is just simply a false narrative. I was vilified for entering into the record a 14 page eyewitness account of a very knowledgeable observer that really laid out exactly what happened. … This is all about a narrative that the left wants to continue to push and Republicans should not cooperate with them at all.” (Sen. Johnson, Ingraham Angle,’ 5/19/21)
On government overreach:
“The left is all about controlling your life, they’re all about big government, and it just creeped me out when Joe Biden finally gave his first address and he just begged Americans to, please, trust government. Sorry, I am not going to sign up for that program.” (Sen. Johnson, Ingraham Angle,’ 5/19/21)
