Sen. Johnson: Biden’s First Year in Office is a “Record of Failure”
WASHINGTON — This week, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) joined Fox Business’ “Kudlow” and Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom” to discuss how President Biden’s first year in office is marked by failures of Democrat governance. The interviews can be found here and here, excerpts are below.
On Biden’s radical policies:
“He's living in a fantasy world. He really is. But here on planet Earth, when you spend trillions of dollars we don't have, when you pay people not to work and reduce the supply of goods, that's going to cause inflation. I was amazed at the notes I had, I didn't get to watch the entire press conference, but he said that he outperformed expectations. I'm not sure what planet he's inhabiting, but again, here on planet Earth how he has governed is as a huge radical leftist. He's not the moderate that the press said he was going to be. He's a radical leftist. He's opened up the borders. He's caused the inflation. We have catch and release down at the border, but also in our criminal justice system. The embarrassing and dangerous surrender in Afghanistan. It is a record of failure.” (Sen. Ron Johnson, ‘Kudlow,’ 1/19/22)
On the lack of transparency:
“First of all, you have to understand, this is a continuation of our investigation into Hunter Biden that literally started years ago. The agencies, in this case the Secret Service, lack such transparency. They are hiding something. Here’s an example. We finally, after literally years of dickering back and forth with them, we finally got 259 pages of documents over his 5 1/2 years of Secret Service protectee status. This is what we got. I don't have x-ray vision. I can't read through the black ink. They are completely not being transparent with Congress and with the American public. That just raises my suspicion. All we were trying to figure out is to what extent does he have financial foreign entanglements that could represent a national security risk to America.” (Sen. Ron Johnson, ‘America’s Newsroom,’ 1/20/22)
On Democrats’ partisan power grab attempt:
“They call any American that wants voter ID, 80% of Americans want voter ID, they call us racist. They want American taxpayers to pay for attack ads in campaigns … Bill, show me one voter who actually wants to vote that had a problem voting. We're at record, near record voter turnout. Democrats just want one-party control. They can't talk about their record because their record is one of miserable failure from Democrat governance from open borders to catch and release. This is just miserable.” (Sen. Ron Johnson, ‘America’s Newsroom,’ 1/20/22)
