Sen. Johnson Issues Statement on CHIPS-Plus Vote
WASHINGTON. – On Wednesday, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), member of the Senate Commerce Committee and the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, issued the following statement regarding his no vote on the CHIPS-Plus bill.
“At a forty year high of 9.1% inflation, I don't think it’s wise to add another almost $280 billion in spending to fuel the flames of inflation. Since there is plenty of capital to fund its expansion, there is no need to provide corporate welfare to the semiconductor industry. This CHIPS bill is an example of Washington’s typical solution to any problem, throw money at it, so I opposed it.”
