Sens. Johnson, Grassley Call on Secret Service to Release Joe Biden’s Visitor Records

WASHINGTON - On Monday, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), ranking member of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, and U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), ranking member of the Committee on the Judiciary, sent a letter to United States Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle requesting a full and complete list of all individuals who entered locations where classified records relating to then-Vice President Biden’s tenure were found. This letter follows the recent discovery of classified documents at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement and President Biden’s Wilmington, Delaware residence.

Earlier this month, the senators sent a letter to Richard Sauber, Special Counsel to the President, reiterating questions about Joe Biden’s understanding of federal record-keeping requirements after the White House failed to respond to their previous inquires in July 2021 and June 2022. The senators’ January 2022 request also remains unanswered.

“After decades in Washington, Joe Biden certainly knows how classified information should be handled, but he arrogantly doesn’t believe the rules and laws apply to him. The public deserves a full accounting of individuals that may have had access to these classified records. I hope the Secret Service will be transparent and cooperative as Sen. Grassley and I investigate Joe Biden’s mishandling of our nation’s top secrets," said Sen. Johnson.

Ms. Kimberly Cheatle

Director

United States Secret Service

Dear Director Cheatle:

We write today relating to the discovery of “documents marked classified from Joe Biden’s vice presidency” that have been found at multiple locations.[1]  Since July 30, 2021, we have raised concerns about whether then-Vice President Joe Biden stored and archived government records in compliance with federal records laws.  According to reports, your agency is “prepared to turn over documentation of visitors to [President] Biden’s Delaware home if requested by Congress.”[2]  Accordingly, as part of our ongoing congressional investigation, we request that no later than February 2, 2023, the Secret Service provide a full and complete list of all individuals who entered the locations where classified records relating to then-Vice President Biden’s tenure have been identified.

Sincerely,

###
