Sen. Johnson Joins Anti-Earmarks Resolution

WASHINGTON – On Thursday, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) joined U.S. Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) and seven of their Senate GOP colleagues in the introduction of a resolution fighting reckless government spending.

“Earmarks are the gateway drug to more massive deficit spending,” Sen. Johnson said. “Even some Republicans joined with Democrats to contribute billions in earmarks to this bill, despite claiming to value fiscal responsibility. America cannot afford a wish list upwards of $12 billion that further mortgages our children’s futures and masquerades as responsible spending.”

Sens. Johnson and Scott were joined on this legislation by Senators Mike Braun (R-Ind.), Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), John Barrasso, M.D. (R-Wyo.), Mike Lee (R-Utah), Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), Rand Paul, M.D. (R-Ky.), and Steve Daines (R-Mont.).
