Sen. Johnson Demands DOJ, DHS, FBI Preserve Records Following Assassination Attempt

WASHINGTON  On Sunday, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) sent a letter to Department of Justice (DOJ) Attorney General Merrick Garland, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Christopher Wray requesting the agencies preserve all records referring or relating to the protective detail of former President Trump. The letter additionally requested information relating to the security plans of the July 13, 2024 assassination attempt on the former president.

“While there is still much more information that has yet to be uncovered and shared with the public, the American people deserve a full explanation and complete transparency about this failure of security,” the senator wrote.
