Sen. Johnson Joins Bill Preventing WHO from Spending American Tax Dollars on Pandemic Treaties

WASHINGTON – On Thursday, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) joined U.S. Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) and eleven of their Senate GOP colleagues in introducing the Defending American Sovereignty in Global Pandemics Act. The legislation would stop the United States from entering any international agreement, convention, or instrument with the World Health Organization (WHO) related to pandemic prevention or response without ratification by the Senate. It would also prohibit the WHO from using American taxpayer dollars on partisan international pandemic treaties without approval by the United States Senate. 

Sens. Johnson and Barrasso were joined by U.S. Sens. Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Steve Daines (R-Mont.), Roger Marshall (R-Kans.), Rand Paul (R-Ky.), Pete Ricketts (R-Neb.), Jim Risch (R-Idaho), Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).
